Fire Incident at Philippine General Hospital Prompts Swift Evacuation and Response

A fire incident occurred at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) in Padre Faura St. in Manila, affecting wards one to three, according to the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) reports. The fire rapidly escalated to alert level three before authorities managed to bring it under control.

It was officially declared “under control” at 3:34 p.m. and fully extinguished by 4:30 p.m., as confirmed by the Manila DRRMO. During the incident, patients from the cancer ward were safely evacuated outside the building due to smoke inhalation. They will be transferred to other hospitals under the Department of Health’s care.

The Department of Health has alerted all its National Capital Region (NCR) hospitals to accommodate the affected patients. As of now, the cause of the fire remains undisclosed and is pending further investigation by authorities.
