Under the leadership of Provincial Governor Henry Oaminal, the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental initiated a significant workshop focused on developing Enhanced Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation (DRR/CCA)-Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plans (PDPFP) for the period 2025–2033.
Held over three days and facilitated by the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC), the workshop brought together key stakeholders from government, business sectors, civil society organizations, and NGOs, with a particular emphasis on marginalized sectors. Gov. Oaminal highlighted the importance of these plans in fostering a safe, secure, and disaster-resilient environment conducive to sustainable economic growth. William Valles, the provincial planning and development coordinator, emphasized the pivotal role of training provincial planning teams and outlined the significance of the PDPFP in guiding development efforts.
The workshop aimed to identify natural hazards, risks, and vulnerabilities, prioritizing mitigation programs for effective disaster response and resilience-building. Local Government Units (LGUs) pledged to support DRR/CCA initiatives, ensuring a collective effort towards a safer and more prosperous Misamis Occidental.
