The Philippine government has earmarked ₱1 trillion in its 2025 national budget to combat climate change and promote sustainable development. This marks a 123% increase in climate-responsive spending, reflecting the country’s commitment to strengthening resilience against environmental challenges.
Over the past decade, the Philippines has steadily increased its climate-related expenditures, averaging 32.5% growth annually. The substantial 2025 budget will support initiatives such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, expanding renewable energy projects, and implementing sustainable practices across industries.
Beyond its environmental impact, the investment is expected to drive economic growth by creating green jobs and attracting foreign investments. The Board of Investments (BOI) has already approved ₱1.58 trillion in assets from January to November 2024, with a significant portion directed toward renewable energy projects.
This landmark funding underscores the Philippines’ dedication to a greener and resilient future, ensuring long-term environmental sustainability and economic progress.
