Eastern Samar Town Appeals for Aid as Floods Destroy Homes and Crops

Jipapad, a municipality in Eastern Samar, is grappling with the aftermath of severe flooding that has impacted 1,817 families, equivalent to 9,913 residents. The town has been placed under a state of calamity as the flooding caused extensive damage, including the destruction of 48 hectares of rice fields valued at ₱719,850.

Despite having a calamity fund of ₱7.551 million, local officials admit that the resources are insufficient to address the widespread damage. The municipal government has launched an appeal for urgent food aid and livelihood assistance to support affected residents, particularly farmers who have suffered significant losses.

The town’s plight underscores the urgent need for additional resources to aid recovery efforts and mitigate the disaster’s long-term effects on the local community.
